A nice lakeview home
First of all let me tell you the reason why I just gave it four stars: There is only an old TV and no DVD player in the living room. We love to watch movies and we missed this feature. The owner promised us to upgrade until 2011. As soon as this is done, this place should get five stars.
We did like to know what we rent, so the owners personal Internet page just for his house was very helpful upfront. We enjoyed this place so much, it's unique and you can really see that the owner is in details. The house is not the newest, but so many improvements had been made and everything is working right so that it's just a great place to stay. Our children liked the pool, but were almost more fascinated from the dog doors. I most definitely enjoyed the view from the kitchen. Having a coffee in the morning, seeing the lake and a nice yard is worth so much. My wife loved the fence. We locked the gate and had privacy plus security for our children.
Mr. B: We will be back and are looking forward to see a big flat screen TV and DVD player. We really want to watch a movie, start a fire in the fireplace and just enjoy this place as much during the evening as we did during the day.

Unique nice place
Hello Bastian I like to take this opportunity to thank you in providing us with this awesome Lakeview home we really enjoyed every single day. This is a very nice, clean, & peaceful house; our children had a ball in the swimming pool and asked me that next time we come back to the San Antonio area if we could stay at your Lakeview home again and my answer was yes. House Upon the Hill
This is a excellent vacation house. We had a wonderful time even though the lake was low as all the lakes are this year. I would recommend this rental to anyone that would like to just get away for a peaceful vacation or even a weekend.

Just Right
Howdy! After being "UpOn the Hill" I know I will rent it again & would not want another that didn't have a pool. It was very nice, all the way around & everything was just as it was advertized. With 3 couples, it was a little awkard having the bedroom in the living area, but we didn't spend much time sleeping so it worked out. (More of a hassle with the clothes/luggage, etc. We spent some time on the lake but having the pool was really A+ for everybody. I know y'all will enjoy!!!

Loved the Haus-on-the-hill
This property was all it was advertised to be and more. It was very comfortable and well maintained inside and out. The setting is very peaceful and relaxing, yet very convenient to attractions in the area. Our two Wire Fox Terriers were very happy with our selection. The fenced yard was perfect and the dog door gave them independence. The owner is very accommodating and the housekeeper always available. The neighborhood is very quiet and we had great walks. We were visited at least twice each day by the local deer population. It is a great family home and perfect retreat for a girls or guys get-away. Restaurants and markets are not close by, so come prepared with snacks or shop in Gruene or New Braunfels before heading out to the site. We hope to spend more time there in the future.

Very desirable lake view retreat
Wow, this property was everything it said it would be and more. We've rented houses in several states and locations with varying amenities from Georgia to Hawaii. The property is very comfortable inside and out and takes one back to a simpler, quiet way of living away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The shag carpet in the bedroom and stepdown into the living room is very 70's in style which we liked. We enjoyed seeing deer passing by in the morning and late afternoon. The yard was perfect for our two Wire Fox Terriers who also appreciated the independence afforded by dog doors. We also took them on walks around the area and felt very safe. We are gourmet cooks and were disappointed that the kitchen was very adequate, but not as well equipped as some places we've stayed. But most people avoid cooking on vacation. We suggest bringing food or shopping at a market in Gruene or New Braunfels before going to the house as markets and restaurants are not readily available closeby. From this home away from home we toured San Antonio and other Hill Country locations like the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, the LBJ ranch and Luckenbach. Gruene and New Braunfels offered great shopping and tubing on the river. I highly recommend the Haus on the Hill as a good central location for the area attractions and a place to just relax and enjoy a peaceful ambiance. The kitchen table is a great place for the girls to play bridge or a family to play games. The swing facing the lake view was a perfect spot for morning devotions and reading. We are definitely going back. The owner is very attentive to his customers needs and the housekeeper is always available if needed. The entire property was very clean and well maintained.
Recommended for: Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Very nice and well equipped place
Thanks a lot for this nice vacation! There are cheaper rentals available, but this house was worth every single cent. Very professional processing of the booking, extreme friendly and professional service for check-in and check-out. Very nice and well equipped place – It felt like home from the first minute on. And last but not least: The house was clean and shiny upon arrival.

Hello Bastian, I'm sorry about the garbage disposal but I don't remember using it at all. Yes I would like to write a review of your vacation house soon. My little granddaughter wanted to live there forever! She just loved the pool and seeing the deer up close. The house felt like home to all of us! Thanks again, Beverly

Friendly and nice
Very friendly and helpful owner. We cold always get in touch with him, even if he lives far away in Germany. He's using a company and local people for opening up the house and other services. When we arrived, a friendly man showed us all necessarily details within the house and the property. As an addition we enjoyed a daily maid service in the morning. This wasn't cheap but a great and well worth addition to our vacation. The property is big and we could use the carport to park our boat away from the sun. We're looking forward to come back.
